Give Your Child the Tools to Succeed Before High School
Winston is a grades 1–8 school in Short Hills for bright students with dyslexia, ADHD, and other language-based learning differences who need the right support, structure, and confidence-building to thrive.

Why Families Come to Winston Middle School
By middle school, many families start to feel the stakes rising. Work gets heavier. Reading and writing demands increase. Executive functioning challenges become harder to ignore. A bright child who once seemed “just a little behind” can start to lose confidence fast.
At Winston, students build the tools, confidence, and self-advocacy they need to move forward with real momentum. In a safe, structured setting, students feel understood, supported, and ready for high school.
The Winston Difference
Structured Literacy Support
Students participate in 120 minutes of structured literacy each day.
The Winston School Toolbox
Winston empowers independent learners using a toolbox filled with academic strategies, technological tools, and executive functioning skills.
Culture of Belonging
Our students thrive in a nurturing, close-knit community where they feel safe, understood, and celebrated for who they are.
Winston is a Launchpad for What's Next
Winston is about building the foundation students need to reach their goals. In the Middle School, students are given the structure, support, and encouragement they need to build skills and confidence. They learn how to stay organized, manage their time, and speak up for themselves. With small classes and teachers who truly understand them, students start to see what they’re capable of. Winston prepares its students to move on to mainstream public, independent, boarding, and religiously-affiliated schools.
"Winston gives me a safe environment to learn and explore."
